new fantasy resources

a couple more useful resources have cropped up in the last few days that can help us maximize our decisions.

corners, PKs, and free-kicks
this is far more comprehensive than my page (now deleted)

fantasy overlord
this is a mathematical projection tool that was developed from the same math behind a tool that picked the fantasy team over the season and placed in the top 500 for EPL fantasy. I have a lot of reservations about how it translates to MLS, knowing how much a team can change from year to year. That said, I think their team projections are likely to be more valuable than what I have used for my projected goals scored and projected goals conceded. The player projections are useful for players that played a lot of minutes last year, but are useless for players who missed time due to injury or came in mid-season (bernardez, ferreira, zakuani, higuain, o. gonzalez, etc.). this tool should improve it's predictive ability as more of this season's data is entered.

  1. Andrew - good blog, thanks. I am new to MLS FF (long time FPL manager). I had a good first week (71 pts) - but want to push on. I figured the best way to support American soccer is to watch MLS and the best way for me to watch MLS is to have a Fantasy Football team, so I will usually have a rooting interest in any given game. Since I don't plan to monitor my FMLS team as closely as my FPL team, what's your take on the best plan for a team ? My initial plan was to go for a strong defense with nailed on high value defenders/gk, and pick 2-3 top attacking players to rotate the armband (Keane, Higuain, Zusi), then cheapish mids/forwards to fill in. Unfortunately I don't know enough about the rosters to figure out those nailed on cheapish options; I wound up with some deadwood in GW1. Thoughts on the best approach for my team, knowing I am not going to monitor it as closely as many managers?
